National Ilan University (NIU) is located near the beautiful northeastern coast of Taiwan and is within one hour’s drive from Taipei. The Embedded Systems and Mobile Computing/Communication (ESMC) Laboratory in the Department of Electronic Engineering have hosted several students from Southeastern Asia, particularly India, and America in TEEP projects of previous years. The lab offers an exciting and stimulating environment for those who would like to explore frontiers in UAVs, Internet of Things (IoT), machine learning, and 5G/B5G mobile communication. These technologies are widely regarded as innovation drivers in the coming years. Innovative combination of these leading-edge technologies to solve various problems facing the society as a whole also opens up new avenues for research. Students with suitable background and passion for taking on the challenges are encouraged to apply. The lab will provide the necessary equipment for conducting the research. In the past two years, students who have come to the lab for a short-term internship had impressive achievements. Some of them are pursuing graduate studies in reputed Taiwan universities. Participants will be accommodated in the on-campus dormitory at the same cost as local students. By paying an administrative fee, they will also be able to use the facilities on campus, including the gym and library. Besides academic research, participants will have close interaction with local students and have an opportunity to experience the many facets of Taiwan – food, scenic spots around the island, advanced manufacturing factories, and its friendly people. Qualified individuals are invited to take part in this project. In particular, we look for students from Southeastern Asian countries. But students or recent graduates from other parts of the world are also welcomed.
