NCKU, sitting right in Tainan city, which is famous for delicious foods, is one of the top universities in Taiwan. The university is composed of six colleges, including engineering, science, medicine, social science, business management and design, which contributes to close cross-sector operation. In addition, not limited in academic research, NCKU has been dedicated to promoting industry-academia cooperation. Therefore, besides rich research resource and energy, the entrepreneurship trend also prevails in the school.

In the Department of Biomedical Engineering, we combine medicine and engineering science to develop innovative medical devices, aiming to solve current limitations in medical examinations and treatments. In our lab, we use bio-electrochemical methods to develop biosensors, saving exhausting clinical examination time and give precise results for timely treatments.

During the TEEP@AsiaPlus Scholarship program, we arrange many learning and social activities. For learning activities, the students can join the bio-electrochemistry and biosensor classes, and participate in many hands-on experiments including ring-shaped interdigitated electrode (RIDE) chip application, loop-mediated isothermal amplification (LAMP), electrochemical detection methods, the Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, and various types of wafer fabrication techniques. Based on this training program, the students can even choose a topic to study and will have the opportunities to attend the International Symposium on Chemical-Environmental- Biomedical Technology (isCEBT) and other symposiums to fulfill the academic exchange experience. For social activities, we also manage to arrange some chance for the students to make a corporate visit to the industry to see how biosensors are practically used in healthcare settings and in our daily life.

Furthermore, for students adapting to the environment, we will arrange the twin rooms in the prince dormitory in NCKU to ensure everyone all have a wonderful experience during this program.
